Fukuro
Obi
The Fukuro Obi, kimono sash, created in the late 1920’s is slightly less
formal than the Maru obi, but is the most formal obi in use
today. The length of the Fukuro obi is the same but is slightly narrower than the Maru obi
and is constructed without a stiffener. The beautiful
patterns are only on one side of the Fukuro and often times
covered only sixty percent of the piece. Even with the construction
differences with the Fukuro and Maru obi, when worn they can
hardly be distinguished from one another. The Fukuro obi today
is worn for the most formal occasions.
